Paris St-Germain forward Neymar limped off in Brazil’s international friendly game against Cameroon.
Neymar played for only six minutes as Brazil edged out Cameroon 1-0 in Milton Keynes.
He suffered an adductor muscle injury while taking a shot and was substituted by Everton’s Richarlison.
And Richarlison was the match-winner, powering home a header on the stroke of half-time.
It was an intense game against the Africans who usually are known for their physicality.
Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus struck the post for Brazil in the second half, while Arthur hit
the crossbar with a long-range effort.
Brazil played their usual all-attacking style, mounting pressure on Cameroon but they goals were far
from coming forth.
The 29,669 fans at Stadium MK cheered loudly when Neymar came out to warm-up, but were
disappointed when he hobbled off.
Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said: “He felt discomfort; he will need a bit more time to
evaluate it and take a scan, but in principle it is not a serious injury.”
Those thoughts were later confirmed by the player, who wrote on Instagram: “Thanks to everyone
who sent me messages wishing me a quick recovery, I don’t think it’s anything serious.”
Also, Kylian Mbappe left the pitch due to a shoulder injury in France friendly against Uruguay.
However, both players awaits the reports from the medical examination to ascertain the real extent
of their injuries.
Neymar and Mbappe’s availability in the Uefa Champions League fixture against Liverpool is not
yet certain as they travel to Anfield.
But before the continental fixture, Paris Saint Germain will face Toulouse in a Ligue 1 weekend fixture.
