Super Eagles Captain John Mikel Obi will remain in the Chinese top flight League, called ‘Chinese Super League’

for next season.

Mikel Obi’s club remains in the top flight after his team narrowly survived relegation in the last fixture at the

weekend.

Mikel who recently was verbally attacked by some Nigerian soccer fans for lack of commitment to the national

team was unavailable in his club’s last league match of the season.

And he was absent in the team due to injury, and watched from the stand as his Chinese club were beaten 5-1

away by Guangzhou Evergrande at the Tianhe Stadium.

The loss by Tianjin Teda on the last day of the season, see them finish the league on 14th position with 32 points.

However, they are glad for the narrow escape as they were not relegated.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo was unlucky as his team Changchun Yatai lost 2-0 to Dalian Yifang

to confirm their relegation from the top flight football.

Despite scoring 22 goals in all competitions for his club this season, Ighalo will be left to decide his future.

Will he leave the club in search for top flight football elsewhere or remain with the club to play second division
