One of Nigeria Professional Football League [NPFL] elite club Akwa United will name their new head coach, on Monday, 5th November.
Akwa United also called ‘The Promise Keepers’ have been without a head coach since
Abdu Maikaba moved to Jos to pitch tents with Plateau United.
Maikaba had been with Akwa United for two seasons guiding them to lift the prestigious ‘Aiteo Cup’.
The Promise won the Aiteo Federation Cup last year following a 3-2 penalty shoot-out
win against Niger Tornadoes.
He left following the expiration of his two-year contract with the Promise Keepers.
“We will unveil our new Coach on Monday 5th Nov 2018,” reads a tweet on the
club’s official Twitter handle.
There have been news from several quarters linking lots of coaches jostling for the ‘Hot Job’.
Boboye are rumoured to be the leading contenders for the vacant position.
Sportsfora.com also gathered that the club’s hierarchy is also looking at the possibility of
getting the services of a foreign coach to handle the side in the new season.
The Uyo-based club came second in the just concluded Nigeria Professional Football League
season behind league winners Plateau United.
Also they reached the quarter-finalists in the Federation Cup before losing out to eventual
champions, Enugu Rangers on penalties.
The new season of the Nigerian Professional Football League will commence soon as
teams have swung into action preparing for the new season ahead.
