Sunshine Stars of Akure have acquired the services of Kabiru Dogo as the club’s new head coach.
Dogo was unveiled as the new Sunshine Stars coach replacing Henry Abiodun on a year contract.
The gaffer took charge of Nasarawa United in 2015 after head coach Mohammed Babaganaru resigned.
Kabiru Dogo stayed with the ‘Solid Miners’ for five seasons and in search of new challenges, opted for the move.
In the just concluded season, Nasarawa United finished 12th on the Nigerian Professional Football League [NPFL] table.
On the other hand, Sunshine Stars under Coach Henry Abiodun finished at the 18th position.
They only surpassed ‘Yobe Desert Stars’ and Heartland of Owerri who finished 19th and 20th irrespectively.
To this end, he will begin work at the Akure Township Stadium immediately after agreeing on a one-year deal at the club.
Sunshine Stars alongside their newly wedded bride [Dogo] will intensify preparations for the new
2018/19 season with hopes for a continental ticket.
Furthermore, Akure in the past few football seasons has been a volatile ground with fans unrest
leading to several bans.
So coach Kabiru Dogo has work to do in transforming the team into a power house so as to avert the usual crowd troubles.
Finally, Sunshine Star’s management must work with the coaching crew to bring about a change in the fans’ conduct during home matches.
