Enugu Rangers wins
Rangers International have scaled into the semi final of the Aiteo Cup after defeating Akwa United. Katsina United at another match venue have also qualified for the semi-final of this year’s Aiteo Cup.
In Lagos centre, Katsina United thrashed Kwara United 3-1, while Enugu Rangers defeated cup holders Akwa United 4-2 on penalties after both teams were tied on 1-1 at full time.
Destiny Ashadi put ‘The Changi Boys’ in front against Kwara United in the 21st minut of the match.
Before half time, Tasiu Lawal double Katsina United lead and a minute later Segun Alebisu pulled a goal back for Kwara United.
Martins Usule secure the game safe for Katsina United in the dot of full time of the quarterfinal at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.
Akwa United loses
In Kano, Akwa United went ahead in the first half through Michael Ibe, but Rangers equalized in the 70th minute through veteran defender Okey Odita.
Shortly after the game, Akwa United striker Victor Mbaoma has rued the Promise Keepers’ exit from the 2018 Aiteo Cup competition, reports Sportsfora.com.
The defending champions were Akwa United were knocked out of the Aiteo Federation Cup following a 4-2 penalty shoot-out defeat to Enugu Rangers in their quarter-final tie at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano on Wednesday.
Mbaoma who has played six games so far in the competition scoring four goals and three assists wished Akwa United would successfully defend their Cup title.
“End of the road!!! After 1-1 regulation time score in quarter final stage, and crashed out in penalty shootout,” Mbaoma who is on a season loan stint from Remo Stars tweeted.

Michael Ibe gave Akwa United the lead four minutes before the break from a superb free-kick but Rangers’ captain Okey Odita levelled scores for his side 20 minutes from time to send the game into shootout.
