Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has signed a year contract extension that will see him stay at the club until 2021.
The Argentine international since joining the side has played a major role in City’s successes.
Aguero, 30, joined Manchester City from Spanish side Atletico Madrid in 2011 for a reported fee of £38m winning three premier league titles and three EFL Cups.
He is City’s all time goal scorer with 204 goals so far with memories of the injury time goal against QPR in 2012.
Manchester City director of football Txiki Begiristain said Aguero stays at the “forefront of what we want to achieve in the coming years”.
“We are fortunate to have had one of the best strikers in the world at our club for so many years,” he said.
“I am very happy because they have treated me very well since the moment I got her,” said Aguero, who will have spent a decade at the club by the time his new deal expires.
“My idea was being here for 10 years; this was the main reason I signed.”
Aguero added: “It’s true that we’ve got a lot of young talented players that can make the difference in the future. Rightly said, the youngsters are quite developed already, like Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane.
Aguero has said previously that he will return to play in Argentina for Independiente when his contract at City runs out and may still, but has been persuade to remain in Manchester City for at least one more year than planned under Pep Guardiola.
He has toed the line of David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Nicolas Otamendi and Gabriel Jesus in signing a new deal for the club in the last one year.
While Jesus has been hailed as the club’s future, Aguero has been refreshed after undergoing knee surgery in spring and the champions’ league game against Lyon was the first of seven matches this season that he has not started.
We have a lot of players who have got things to learn and improve, and being in this great club helps you learn faster and improve quicker than anywhere else.
Manchester City have a good team, and staying focused as a unit, we will go places and win more laurels.
