Nigeria’s women national basketball team, D’Tigress made a great impression on Tuesday after another impressive win against their Argentine counterpart with a 75 – 70 score line.
The match was keenly contested and the win was a hard fought battle as the pendulum was constantly swinging almost throughout the four quarters of the encounter.
There were hopes and determination on the part of the Nigerian ladies to make history at the World Cup tourney.
So at one point in the game, the Argentines narrowed the margin to 58 – 57, thereby raising the tempo of the game.
It became even more interesting and tension-soaked. Nigeria then moved it to 61-57, before the South Americans again began their fight back.
D’Tigress did not relax a bit, but fought on and redoubled their efforts and score more points push the score line to 67-62. This happened in the final two minutes and 10 seconds.
Nigeria were trailing in the early quarters of the match 46-48 but they showed sheer determination and in the last few seconds of the third quarter, they bounced back to lead 51-48.
It was a tough game as the San Cristobal de Laguna in Spain, the venue for the match was lit with glamour and suspense-filled.
As it all began
As the game began, the D’Tigress impressed and led the Argentines 9-4 in the first quarter.
Their opponents were not inactive either as they gave D’Tigress a run for their money and at the end of the second quarter, the score was pegged at 32-29 in favour of the Nigerians.
Australia who defeated the Nigerian ladies in the group’s opening game leads the group having beaten Turkey 90-64 earlier in the day.

The South Americans having lost to D’Tigress are out of the tournament while Nigeria are placed second in the group behind the Australians.
Nigeria, as runners-up of Group B will have to play against the third-placed team in Group A. Only group winners are given automatic tickets to the quarter final of the tournament
